Your teeth see a lot of action over the course of a day. What you eat, drink, smoke and chew will influence the colour of your teeth, and this can become quite pronounced over time. At Crestwood Family Dental, we provide a safe and reliable teeth whitening service, with proven results that shine!
Through in-chair and take-home whitening kits, our team can help you eradicate stains and bring a bright, white hue to your smile. This cosmetic treatment is quick and painless and can be slotted into a lunch break without hassle. Working within your lifestyle and budget, we will help you achieve the smile you’ve been searching for.
If you prefer to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home, then our take-home kits are ideal. Unlike in-chair whitening, custom-made trays are made to fit your teeth which can be filled with whitening gel. Because home bleaching gel is weaker than in-chair, whiter teeth are achieved over several days rather than instantly.

There are two kinds of teeth stains: extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic stains are found on the surface of the tooth, while intrinsic stains can be found deep within the dentin. There are ways to remove discolourations from the tooth’s surface, but intrinsic stains are much more stubborn, and can only be removed using a suitable tooth whitening agent.
These agents use hydrogen peroxide and/or carbamide peroxide to penetrate the enamel and target the chemical compounds causing stains. This process is called oxidation, and will break the stains into smaller pieces, making the colour less concentrated. Over time, as the treatment continues, your teeth will reflect more light, creating a beaming white colour!
We provide in-chair whitening from our clinic in Molendinar. This involves applying a protective gel to your gums, followed by bleach to your teeth. From here, you have the option of booking more in-chair appointments or purchasing take-home kits.
There are many factors that contribute to teeth staining. For instance, drinks like coffee, tea and red wine contain colour pigments called chromogens that attach to the enamel of your tooth. Tobacco is another leading culprit, as it contains tar and nicotine.
Certain medications, like antihistamines, antipsychotics and blood pressure tablets can also have an effect on tooth discolouration. Then there’s age and trauma, both of which affect the whiteness of your teeth.
The team at Crestwood Family Dental will give you in-depth advice and feedback on lifestyle changes you can make to limit further staining.
